What is a HES code?

The HES code (Hayat Eve Sığar) is a personal ten-digit code encrypted in QR format, which was introduced during the pandemic by the Turkish Ministry of Health for safe travel within the country.

Where is the HES code required in Turkey?

You may be asked to provide the HES code in any public place: when checking into a hotel or hostel, in shopping malls, museums, when visiting cinemas, theaters, exhibitions, cafes, restaurants, in any type of public transport.

When do I need to take care of getting the HES code?

You must get the HES code before crossing the Turkish border. We advise you to do this even before the planned trip, but not earlier than 72 hours. If you do not have a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19, with vaccines that are accepted in Turkey, you need to take a PCR test and get a negative result no earlier than 72 hours before traveling to Turkey.

How can you get the HES code?

You must fill out a form on the website: https://register.health.gov.tr / Here you have to fill in all the fields with your personal information. After filling in all the fields, a form with a HES code will be generated. You need to either print it out or save it in your smartphone.

Can I get the HES code in another way?

Yes, if you have a SIM card of any Turkish mobile operator, you can get the HES code by sending an SMS to the number 2023 by typing HES (space) Nationality (space) Passport serial number (space) Year of birth (space) Surname.
